Fishing in South Dakota’s lakes, streams, ponds, rivers, and reservoirs can be rewarding as they produce some excellent fishes. Species like walleye, largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, catfish, perch, panfish, trout and salmon are common. Between the mountain lakes and streams of the Black Hills and the glacial lakes of eastern South Dakota, anglers will find fishing opportunities in stock dams, prairie rivers and giant reservoirs.
